Veteran Bangladeshi performer, Baidya Nath Saha, has passed away at the age of 73, confirmed by his companions. Saha, who had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments, breathed his last yesterday evening at a Jashore hospital, as disclosed by Rashed Mamun Apu, the general secretary of Actors Equity Bangladesh.
Saha commenced his artistic journey in the theatre scene in Jashore and later delved into television during the 1980s. Renowned for his roles in TV hits like “Nodi Theke Somudre”, “E Madhur Khela”, and “Shrabone Boshonto”, he was particularly acclaimed for his part in the series “Lal Nil Beguni”.
Throughout his career, Saha showcased his acting prowess in Bangladeshi feature films and short films, including “Adam” (2023), “Damal” (2022), and the short film “Sultan” (2018). Additionally, his repertoire extended to television films and musical productions.
The news of his demise has sparked a wave of condolences and tributes from colleagues across the theatre, television, and film industries.
