North South University recently hosted an exciting fight night on 26 April, courtesy of KHAR, a Bangladeshi MMA organization established just a year ago. This event marked a significant milestone as one of the first organized MMA tournaments of this scale held at a university in the country.
Partnering with the university’s Games and Sports Club, KHAR’s fight night was backed by IronValley as the title sponsor, with support from Head Gear, Gold Kinen, Xtreme, and Arabika. The event showcased a mix of amateur and professional bouts, offering the audience a diverse range of competition levels. However, it was the enthusiastic crowd, primarily composed of students, that truly elevated the atmosphere, creating a vibrant energy rarely seen in traditional venues.
Despite being a relatively young organization, KHAR has been making swift progress in bringing structure to the local MMA scene in Bangladesh. The event at North South University reflects their ongoing efforts to establish a more organized platform for the sport, which has historically lacked formal support in the country.
KHAR’s overarching goal is to nurture fighters capable of competing on the international stage while cultivating a strong domestic following. Holding the event on a university campus aligns with this vision, as it directly engages with the demographic likely to produce future fighters and long-term MMA enthusiasts.
