Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met briefly with Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman in his office at the parliament building after attending the funeral prayer of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed’s wife, Dilara Hafiz. The meeting occurred following the funeral proceedings held at the South Plaza of the parliament in the afternoon.
According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, the discussion between the two leaders was concise. After the funeral rites, the Prime Minister and the opposition leader conversed in the Prime Minister’s room for a period of time.
Ruman mentioned that after approximately 17 to 18 minutes, the Prime Minister emerged from the room accompanied by the opposition leader, escorting him to his destination. The specifics of their conversation were not disclosed.
LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was also in attendance during the meeting. Earlier in the day, Tarique participated in Dilara Hafiz’s funeral prayer around noon, with Shafiqur arriving at the location before the commencement of the service.
