“You Be You: National Youth Wellness Festival Empowers Youth”

-

The National Youth Wellness Festival, hosted at BRAC University’s multipurpose hall on April 22 and 23, stood out from typical youth events by providing a unique blend of inspiration and practical tools for young attendees. Organized by The Flow Fest in collaboration with Prime Bank’s Prime NOW, the festival gathered students from 10 universities daily from 10 AM to 2 PM under the theme “You Be You: Find Your Flow.”

Unlike traditional campus programs, this festival focused on offering direct access to resources for emotional balance, self-expression, and establishing routines. Participants engaged in a variety of activities such as yoga, meditation, dance, art sessions, music, and wellness workshops. These activities were not mere additions but formed the core of the event, allowing young individuals to physically, creatively, and socially experience well-being.

The movement sessions, led by dance teacher and activist Arthy Ahmed, fostered a collaborative atmosphere where students actively participated in rhythm, expression, and connection rather than passively receiving instructions. According to Ahmed, these festivals serve as platforms for cultural exchange, inspiring confidence and a sense of community through art, movement, and shared ideas.

Artist Ohama, who conducted a portrait drawing workshop, emphasized that creativity is not a talent exclusive to a few but something that can be unlocked through active participation. By engaging in creative activities together, participants could overcome self-doubt and boost their confidence.

Dr. Rayhan Shahidullah addressed the importance of establishing a flexible and smart routine to promote consistency in daily life. Instead of advocating for rigid discipline, he highlighted the significance of time management in avoiding burnout and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Moreover, the festival encouraged emotional expression through a photography contest titled “Stop Hiding Your Feelings. Express. Share. Heal.” This initiative aimed to provide alternative avenues for young people to open up about emotional challenges, complementing the festival’s focus on holistic well-being.

Overall, the National Youth Wellness Festival distinguished itself not only by its size but also by its interactive format, emphasizing the necessity of practical experiences over mere rhetoric in promoting youth well-being. By creating a space for movement, creativity, reflection, and habit-building, the festival empowered attendees with tools they could apply long after the event’s conclusion. In a society where youth are often urged to persevere without guidance on maintaining stability, this festival’s impact was significant.
