Medical College Financial Misconduct Case, Teacher Under Investigation

-

A former faculty member of a private medical college in Gazipur, Ummel Khayer Fatema Khan Mojlish, has been sued on charges of fraud, misappropriation of funds, and defamation against the institution. The case has been registered at Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-4 under C.R. Case No. 18/2026.

According to the case statement and legal notices, Fatema Khan Mojlish received BDT 10 lakh from the institution as a home loan. She had promised to repay the amount in monthly installments within one year but failed to do so. Despite multiple legal notices sent by the institution, the payment has not been made. An audit report further indicates a discrepancy of BDT 50 lakh in the institution’s accounts linked to her. Legal notices have been issued regarding this matter, and a separate case is in process.

Institution sources stated that she was promoted to the position of Associate Professor despite lacking the required qualifications under BMDC regulations. During a BMDC inspection, she submitted her resignation on 20 October 2025, citing issues related to her promotion.

A five-member internal investigation committee reported that after her resignation, Fatema Khan Mojlish, along with her associate Imran, conducted campaigns against senior officials and faculty members on social media. The report notes evidence of her involvement in these actions.

The investigation also found allegations of creating false reports during the COVID period and misappropriation of institutional funds. Complaints related to her personal life and her husband’s death raised by colleagues were included in the report.

Relevant authorities, considering violations of BMDC regulations and financial losses to the institution, have initiated legal action. The case is currently under trial in court.
