Acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Zahid Hasan has debunked a viral social media video alleging his recovery from diabetes without medication. Hasan labeled the video as completely fabricated and part of a misleading online ploy.
The video, mimicking a satellite television news report, falsely portrays Hasan as a musician and asserts that he had battled diabetes for a long period, felt like a burden to his family, and couldn’t play with his grandchildren until he supposedly conquered the illness without any medical intervention. Additionally, the clip incorporated a television channel logo to give the impression of a legitimate news broadcast.
“I have never made such statements anywhere. The entire narrative is fabricated,” Hasan stated upon being informed about the video by associates.
Disputing the personal assertions, the actor highlighted that his children are still pursuing their education and are not yet married, rendering the story about grandchildren entirely false.
Hasan accused the deceptive content of being produced by overlaying voiceovers on footage extracted from an unrelated news segment. He also raised concerns about the unauthorized utilization of television branding to propagate what seemed to be promotional or commercial misinformation.
“In this country, people often trust easily. Many accept information without verification, leading to significant risks of misinformation,” he remarked.
The actor disclosed that his identity had been previously exploited in another concocted video containing baseless medical affirmations. Advocating for stricter measures against cybercrime, Hasan urged authorities to take decisive action against the culprits.
“They are a deceitful group profiting from falsehoods. Spreading fake narratives about an artist like this is a criminal act,” he emphasized.
