Imtiaz U Ahmed has assumed the role of the freshly appointed Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Midland Bank PLC. Before joining Midland Bank, Ahmed held positions at Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC and Eastern Bank PLC, as indicated in a press release.
Bringing a wealth of professional experience from various leadership roles at branch and corporate head office levels, Ahmed is a seasoned leader with a successful track record in the financial services industry. His expertise covers corporate and institutional banking, export financing, internal control and compliance, human resources, special asset management, and treasury management.
Having a distinguished banking career of over 25 years, Ahmed’s leadership, coupled with a strong emphasis on performance management and transformation initiatives, has consistently bolstered business growth, notably in export financing, while significantly improving portfolio quality.
Prior to his banking career, Ahmed established a robust professional background in the capital market at the Chittagong Stock Exchange and in the audit realm at KPMG Rahman Rahman Huq. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance and accounting.
