“BIMEA Celebrates 36 Years of Boosting Bangladesh’s Ink Industry”

The 36th anniversary of the Bangladesh Ink Manufacturers’ & Exporters’ Association (BIMEA) was recently celebrated at The Westin Dhaka, highlighting more than thirty years of support for Bangladesh’s industrial and export sectors.

Adilur Rahman Khan, an advisor to the Ministry of Industries, inaugurated the event as the chief guest, as per an official press release. Khan praised the ink industry for its significant role in driving the growth of Bangladesh’s garments, packaging, and printing industries.

He underscored the importance of a robust domestic ink sector in strengthening Bangladesh’s manufacturing capabilities, emphasizing the government’s dedication to fostering innovation-driven and sustainable industries.

Md Anwar Hossain, the secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, graced the occasion as the special guest, while Md Shahriar, the president of the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), attended as the guest of honor.

Shahab Uddin Khan, the president of BIMEA, expressed satisfaction in the association’s progress since its establishment in 1989, stating, “Our unity and vision for a self-sufficient ink industry are showcased in this milestone. Local ink production has lessened reliance on imports, establishing it as a genuine import-substitute sector that conserves foreign currency and creates jobs nationwide.”

The event, titled “36 Years of Legacy,” recognized Kamal & Company and Danish Ink Industries with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their significant roles as pioneers in sheetfed and web offset, and liquid ink manufacturing in the country.
