Freelancing Training Program Launched Across 48 Districts

-

The Department of Youth Development, under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has officially launched the three-month training program (October–December 2025) under the project titled “Employment Generation for Educated Unemployed Youths through Freelancing Training in 48 Districts of Bangladesh.”

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the inaugural ceremony was held virtually with the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he termed the initiative as the Ministry’s “Signature Project,” highlighting its remarkable contribution in creating employment and self-employment opportunities for educated youths across the country.

Distinguished Guests
The event was attended by the Director General (Grade-1) of the Department of Youth Development, the Personal Secretary (Joint Secretary) to the Adviser of the Ministry, Md. Abul Hasan, and the Managing Director of the implementing agency E-Learning and Earning Limited, Mr. Masud Alam, as special guests. The session was chaired by the Project Director, Md. Manikhar Rahman (Joint Secretary).

Also present were Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, and Deputy Secretaries of the Ministry; Directors and Deputy Directors of the Department of Youth Development; Assistant Project Directors; district-level coordinators; trainers; and officials of E-Learning and Earning Limited.

Massive Response and Selection Process
Additional Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain reported that in Khulna district alone, 1,073 candidates competed for just 75 seats—demonstrating the enormous demand and interest among youths.
For this batch, a total of 92,763 candidates applied online nationwide. Out of them, 40,758 eligible applicants were shortlisted for entrance tests, and finally 3,600 trainees (75 from each district) were selected through written and oral examinations.

Training Features
The training spans three months, totaling 600 hours with 8-hour daily sessions. To encourage participants, each trainee is provided with a daily transport allowance of BDT 200, along with breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks. All necessary training materials are supplied, and successful participants will be awarded certificates upon completion.

Previous Achievements
Up until September 2025, the project has successfully trained 7,200 young men and women across three batches, of which 40% were female participants. Among them, 4,567 trainees (63%) have already started earning through national and international freelancing marketplaces.

Collectively, they have earned approximately USD 601,526 and BDT 27,363,321, totaling around BDT 101.3 million (over 10 crore) in combined earnings—a figure that continues to grow steadily.
Trainee Participation and Success Stories

During the inauguration, 3,600 new trainees from 48 districts of the fourth batch participated virtually. Two successful graduates from previous batches shared their success stories, while two new trainees expressed their enthusiasm for joining the program. The Secretary interacted directly with them, praised their achievements, and encouraged the newcomers.

Post-Training Support
The implementing agency, E-Learning and Earning Limited, is conducting regular free virtual mentoring sessions for all graduates to ensure that those who have yet to start earning can transition smoothly into income-generating activities.

Additionally, the organization has taken its own initiative to recruit trained freelancers in 64 districts for various e-commerce and freelancing projects, including affiliate marketing. Currently, over 1,600 freelancers are engaged under this initiative, creating further employment opportunities nationwide.

A Sustainable Model for Youth Employment
With well-equipped training labs, skilled trainers, and continuous post-training support, this program is regarded by stakeholders as a timely and employment-oriented initiative. Experts believe that it is not just a training course but a sustainable employment model for Bangladesh’s young generation.
