Police apprehended an 18-year-old individual in connection with the homicide of a 14-year-old female student in the Rayerbazar area of Dhaka. The suspect, identified as Siam, was taken into custody from his residence in Kathalbagan, as confirmed by Assistant Commissioner Shah Mostafa Tarikuzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Dhanmondi Zone).
During initial questioning, Siam purportedly admitted to the crime and disclosed that he had prior acquaintance with the victim. The tragic incident occurred last night around 9:00 pm in front of the victim’s residence, as per family members. The victim, a class eight student at Rayerbazar High School, was out with her younger brother when the attack took place.
The victim’s father, Belal Hossain, recounted the dreadful event, stating that upon hearing a commotion, they found their daughter grievously injured after being assaulted. She was swiftly taken to Sikder Medical and then transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her deceased at approximately 10:15 pm.
The victim’s mother, Nadia Begum, alleged that the suspect had been harassing her daughter via phone for several years. Expressing her anguish, she claimed that a confrontation with the suspect led to the tragic outcome and demanded justice for her daughter.
