WordPress has rolled out a new AI helper integrated directly into its website editing platform and media storage, accessible to users on Business or Commerce plans without any extra charges. The official statement from WordPress highlights that this tool is tailored to support users in making site-wide structural changes, content modifications, and design selections seamlessly within the editor interface. Users can now request alterations like adjusting layout styles, revising content, translating sections, or creating images, with the changes reflecting in real-time.
In contrast to standalone AI tools that necessitate copying and pasting or external cues, this assistant functions within the website environment and grasps the existing content and layout intricacies, as per the company’s claims. Through the media library functionality, users can produce new images or carry out specific edits on current ones, utilizing Nano Banana models. Users also have the flexibility to specify aspect ratios and styles for enhanced customization.
A novel feature, block notes, introduced in WordPress 6.9, empowers users to engage with the AI by simply typing “@ai” in comments to verify content, brainstorm headline suggestions, or request examples, with responses drawing insights from the website content and external references, WordPress further elaborates.
In its announcement, WordPress underscores that the AI helper is discretionary and necessitates activation in the website settings. Notably, users who acquire a website created with WordPress’s AI site builder will have the assistant activated automatically.
