Universal Pictures has released the final trailer for “Wicked: For Good”, the sequel to director Jon M Chu’s successful 2024 musical fantasy film. The trailer, which runs for three minutes and five seconds, picks up the story after the first movie’s events, showing the evolving friendship between Ariana Grande’s character, Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo’s character, Elphaba, in a divided Oz setting.
The trailer kicks off with Elphaba, now known as the “Wicked Witch of the West,” hiding in the enchanted forests, while Glinda thrives as a prominent public figure in the Emerald City, managing fame, political power, and a carefully crafted image.
Tensions escalate as a furious mob sets out to track down Elphaba, leading the two women to confront their shared history and the enduring pain of betrayal. In a crucial moment, Glinda reaches out to her former friend, suggesting a potential collaboration that could change the course of Oz’s destiny. Their once-fractured bond becomes the pivotal point on which the story hinges, requiring truth, compassion, and personal growth.
The trailer also introduces Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, joining Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James in the main cast lineup.
Set to hit theaters on November 21, “Wicked: For Good” is directed by Jon M Chu and features music by John Powell and Stephen Schwartz.
