Warner Bros is said to be in the final stages of talks to purchase the rights for “Shiver”, an upcoming sci-fi action movie that will bring together Keanu Reeves and “Deadpool” director Tim Miller. The film is described as a high-concept, action-packed thriller blending the survival suspense of “The Shallows” with the time-altering drama of “Edge of Tomorrow”.
The script, crafted by Ian Shorr, tells the story of a smuggler navigating the dangerous waters of the Caribbean Sea, encountering corpses, pirates, and sharks all caught within a mysterious time loop. Shorr is known for his work on “Infinite”, featuring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and “Office Uprising” for Sony Crackle.
The film is being produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett through Ryder Picture Company, along with Matthew Vaughn, renowned for directing “Kingsman” and “Kick-Ass”.
Reeves, currently starring in “Waiting for Godot” on Broadway alongside Alex Winter, has been busy. Recently, he voiced Shadow in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, which earned over $492 million worldwide, and reprised his iconic role in “Ballerina,” a spinoff of the “John Wick” series. He also appears in Aziz Ansari’s comedy “Good Fortune”, now showing in theaters.
Director Tim Miller, known for his visually striking projects, has had success with “Deadpool”, which made $782 million globally, followed by “Terminator: Dark Fate” and the creation of Netflix’s acclaimed anthology “Love, Death & Robots”.
With Warner Bros nearing a deal, “Shiver” is set to be one of the most anticipated sci-fi films to come, combining Reeves’ captivating on-screen presence with Miller’s dynamic directing style.
