TV Star Tinu Karim Dies After Voting in Bangladesh Elections

-

Television artist Tinu Karim tragically passed away on Thursday, February 12, at approximately noon in Barishal due to a heart attack. The incident occurred shortly after he had cast his vote in the 13th national parliamentary election.

According to Rashed Mamun Apu, the General Secretary of the Actors’ Equity Association, Karim had visited a polling station in the morning to participate in the electoral process. Upon returning home, he suddenly fell ill and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical professionals.

Earlier this year, the actor had returned home following an extensive 40-day hospitalization period that involved intensive care unit (ICU) treatment and life support. Despite being discharged in early January and showing signs of recovery, he tragically suffered a fatal cardiac arrest at his residence in the village.

Karim had been actively involved in the entertainment industry for more than twenty years. He made his television debut in 2001 with the drama series “Sakkhor” and ventured into the world of cinema in 2010 with the film “Opekkha”. Throughout his career, he starred in numerous television dramas and commercials, such as “Raat Jaga Phool” and “Alta Banu”, achieving widespread fame through an advertisement for a mobile phone operator.

He is survived by his wife, Humayra Nowshin, and their 11-year-old daughter.
