Tragic Incident on Khulna-Mongla Highway: 2 Dead, 7 Injured

Two individuals lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries in a tragic incident on the Khulna-Mongla highway in Bagerhat’s Rampal upazila today. The unfortunate event unfolded when a bus collided with a motorcycle, causing the bus to veer off the road and into a ditch near the Tetulia Bridge area around noon.

The victims’ identities have not been disclosed at this time. Md Emran Hossain, a senior station officer from Mongla EPZ Fire Service, confirmed the details of the accident. The injured individuals were promptly transported to Jhunjhuniya Hospital in Rampal upazila for medical assistance.

According to Emran, the motorcycle riders were tourists en route to Mongla to explore the Sundarbans. Md Jafar Ahmed, the officer-in-charge of Katakhali Highway Police Station, reported that two bus passengers tragically lost their lives at the scene, while seven others, including the motorcycle occupants, sustained injuries.

OC Jafar mentioned, “The deceased have been recovered and taken to Rampal Upazila Health Complex. Authorities are currently working on identifying the victims.”
