Tragic Drowning: Two Cousins Found Dead in Brahmanbaria Pond

Two young children tragically drowned in a pond while on a visit to their grandparents’ residence in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria today. The victims have been identified as Md Takrim, aged 3, the son of Akhtar Hossain from Kuttapara village, and Md Adnan, aged 5, the son of Md Arafat Mia from Uchaliyapara village within the upazila. Police have confirmed that the two children were cousins on their maternal side.

The incident occurred this afternoon at Uttar Para in Kuttapara village. According to local accounts, Adnan had recently arrived at his maternal grandparents’ house and was playing near a pond on Saturday morning with his cousin Takrim. Unfortunately, they accidentally slipped and fell into the water.

After the children went missing, their family members conducted a frantic search. Eventually, members of the community discovered the two children floating in the pond. They were rushed to Sarail Upazila Health Complex, where medical professionals pronounced them dead upon arrival.

Officer-in-Charge Murshedul Alam Chowdhury from Sarail Police Station mentioned that the police had visited the scene and were actively investigating the incident.
