Tragic Drowning Claims Two Children in Kendua

Today in Kendua upazila of Netrokona, tragedy struck as two children lost their lives by drowning in a pond.

The distressing incident took place around 11:45am as the young ones were engrossed in play near a pond situated in Borkalian village within the jurisdiction of Gonda union.

The unfortunate victims have been identified as 7-year-old Sadaat Mia from Borkalian village and 6-year-old Tasfia Akter from Shibpur village in the same union.

According to information provided by the police and family members, a group of children were enjoying themselves near the pond adjacent to the residence of the late Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan when Sadaat and Tasfia accidentally slipped into the water.

Upon realizing that the two children were missing, their family and neighbors swiftly responded, locating and retrieving them from the pond. They were rushed to Kendua Upazila Health Complex, where medical professionals pronounced them deceased upon arrival.

Officer-in-Charge Md Mizanur Rahman of Kendua Police Station stated, “Upon receiving the report, police officials visited the medical facility. The necessary legal protocols are currently in progress.”
