Renowned writer Rakib Hasan, the mastermind behind the popular teen mystery series “Tin Goyenda,” has passed away at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka. The sad event occurred on Wednesday afternoon during his treatment.
Dr. Mohibullah Khondaker, the Vice Principal of Gonoshasthaya Medical College, verified the information to The Daily Star. He mentioned that Rakib Hasan was a regular visitor for kidney dialysis at their hospital. Unfortunately, on the day of his demise, he passed away just before his scheduled dialysis session.
Born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla, Rakib Hasan spent a significant part of his early life in Feni due to his father’s job transfers. Educated in Feni, he later pursued studies at Victoria College in Cumilla. Despite trying various jobs after completing his education, he found writing to be his true calling, leaving behind the monotony of a nine-to-six work routine.
Embracing his passion for writing, Rakib Hasan found solace in his identity as an author, captivating readers of all ages over the years. Commencing his literary voyage with Seba Prokashoni, he authored and translated more than 400 books under different pseudonyms. His repertoire included translations of global literary gems and the creation of popular series such as “Tarzan,” “Goyenda Raju,” and “Reza-Suza.”
