A collaborative task force intercepted 1,500 kilograms of juvenile hilsa fish, known as jatka, valued at approximately Tk 900,000 from three intercity buses along the Amtali-Kuakata highway yesterday afternoon. The seized fish were subsequently distributed among nearby orphanages and disadvantaged households.
The Amtali upazila joint forces reported that the jatka was being illicitly transported from Kuakata to Dhaka via three buses named Bhai Bhai, Sohel, and Subha-Surha Paribahan. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Lieutenant Nakib Nasrullah, head of the BN detachment and head of the joint contingent in Amtali upazila, in collaboration with naval, police, and senior fisheries officials, conducted a raid in the Churikata area. They successfully confiscated the fish from the cargo compartments of the buses.
