Sukumar’s movie “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” featuring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, premiered in Japan on January 16 this year titled “Pushpa Kunrin,” subsequent to its release in India in 2024. The lead actors actively engaged in promoting the film in Japan, and although it had a slow start, it progressively gained traction and is now listed among the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films in the country.
As per the data from trade platform Sacnilk, the movie raked in approximately ¥105 million (equivalent to around ₹6.06 crore) within a span of 14 days post its Japanese debut. This achievement propelled it past Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3,” which had previously amassed ¥104.5 million, securing the 10th spot. Reports indicate that favorable word-of-mouth in key cities like Tokyo and Osaka significantly contributed to its box office success. Nevertheless, despite this milestone, the film continues to lag behind the leading contenders and is unlikely to clinch the top position.
