Several representatives from district and divisional sports associations and universities lodged a formal complaint with the Sports State Minister Aminul Haque on Tuesday. They are urging for an impartial inquiry into alleged irregularities, manipulation, and misuse of authority during the 2025 Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections. The complaint also includes a request for the removal of the current BCB board of directors and a call for fresh elections conducted in compliance with the board’s regulations.
Former BCB director and University of Chittagong representative, Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir, emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation and subsequent actions if any wrongdoing is discovered. Alamgir highlighted the improved environment for fair processes under the current administration and stressed the need for accountability if irregularities are identified.
Alamgir noted that the State Minister for Sports holds the necessary jurisdiction to intervene as per the National Sports Council Ordinance. He mentioned that they are anticipating a court verdict on the issue as well.
In a separate development on Sunday, a group of 50 Dhaka clubs, led by former national team captain Tamim Iqbal, also lodged a complaint with the NSC, urging for an independent probe into the recent BCB elections.
