An evening filled with soul-stirring music is on the horizon for Munshiganj this Thursday as Padmahem Dham in Sirajdikhan prepares to host a special event called “Sadhusanga” in honor of the 135th death anniversary of Fakir Lalon Shah. Lalon Shah, a revered saint-poet, continues to resonate through the spiritual core of Bengal.
The event, divided into two parts, will kick off with an opening ceremony led by acclaimed actor and director Afzal Hossain. Superintendent of Police (Tourist Police) Nihad Adnan Taian will grace the occasion as the chief guest, delivering a significant keynote address.
Founder of Padmahem Dham, Kabir Hossain, shared that the festivities will commence at 3 pm on October 23 with an agomoni gaan (welcoming song), setting the stage for an evening immersed in Lalon’s teachings of love and humanity. The main musical segment, titled “Dhonno Prohorer Gaan” (Songs of the Blessed Hour), is scheduled to start at 8 pm and will feature a group of Baul musicians and followers.
The lineup for this year includes performances by Pagla Bablu, Razzak Baul, Samir Baul, Arif Baul, Suchona Shelly, Dolly Mondol, and Eliza Putul, who will enchant the audience with timeless Lalon songs. The musical accompaniment will be provided by Saidul on harmonium, Bhuttu Baul on dotara, Suman Baul on tabla, and Arif on flute.
Kabir Hossain emphasized that this gathering transcends mere music, describing it as a union of spirits—a tribute to Lalon’s message of kindness and harmony. The annual Sadhusanga at Padmahem Dham upholds the age-old custom of honoring Lalon’s heritage through song, contemplation, and shared introspection—a testament to the enduring relevance of the mystic’s teachings in contemporary times.
