“Seven Female Candidates Triumph in National Elections”

A total of seven female candidates emerged victorious in the recent 13th national election results. Out of the 85 women who participated in the election, 66 were fielded by political parties, while 19 ran independently.

In Manikganj-3 constituency, BNP contender Afroza Khanom clinched victory with 1,67,345 votes and the symbol of “sheaf of paddy.” Her closest competitor, Muhammad Saeed Noor from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, secured 64,242 votes.

Moving to Jhalakathi-2, Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto of the BNP-led alliance garnered 1,13,100 votes with the symbol of “sheaf of paddy” across 147 centers, including postal ballots. Her rival, SM Nayeamul Karim from Jamaat, received 69,805 votes.

In the Sylhet-2 constituency, Tahsina Rushdir Luna, the wife of missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali, triumphed with 79,321 votes. Luna secured 1,17,956 votes, while Muhammad Muntasir Ali from Khelafat Majlis under the 11-party alliance received 38,635 votes. Notably, Tahsina Rushdir is the only female candidate among the 33 contenders in six constituencies of Sylhet district.

In Brahmanbaria-2, independent candidate Rumeen Farhana emerged victoriously with a significant margin, amassing 1,17,495 votes with the “duck” symbol, surpassing Junaid Al Habib of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Bangladesh by 37,568 votes.

Furthermore, BNP candidates Farzana Sharmin, Shama Obaed Islam, and Nayab Yusuf Ahmed clinched victories in the Natore-1, Faridpur-2, and Faridpur-3 constituencies, respectively.
