“Russia-Ukraine Peace Progress Falters Post-Putin-Trump Meeting”

-

Russia indicated yesterday that progress towards a peace agreement in Ukraine has significantly decreased after the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska, reducing hopes for a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict. Diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the dispute have hit a standstill, with both Moscow and Kyiv launching lethal attacks into each other’s territories and Russia making advances on the battlefield.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that the substantial momentum created in Anchorage towards reaching agreements has now dissipated. He criticized Europe for the deadlock, alleging their desire to instigate a conflict. Ryabkov also warned of severe repercussions if Tomahawk missiles were sent to Ukraine, urging Washington to rethink its decision.

Ryabkov expressed concern that the foundation of US-Russian relations was eroding and placed the blame squarely on the Americans for the deteriorating situation.
