“Russia Challenges US Proposal on Gaza in UN Resolution”

-

Russia has introduced its own version of a UN resolution on Gaza, challenging the US proposal that supports President Trump’s peace plan for the region. The US had previously shared its draft resolution with the Security Council members, claiming regional backing for a two-year transitional governance body and international stabilization force.

In response, Russia’s UN mission put forward a counter-proposal, emphasizing the need for a balanced and unified approach to achieve a sustainable cessation of hostilities. The Russian draft suggests the UN Secretary-General explore options for an international stabilization force in Gaza, omitting the US-proposed “Board of Peace” transitional administration.

Indonesia has trained around 20,000 troops for potential health and construction roles in Gaza as part of a peacekeeping initiative. Discussions with the US have involved plans for a multinational stabilization force in Gaza, involving countries like Azerbaijan, Egypt, and Qatar.

In Gaza, the Nasser Hospital received the bodies of 15 Palestinians as part of a ceasefire agreement brokered by the US between Israel and Hamas. Additionally, over 150 Palestinians were permitted to disembark a plane in South Africa after being detained for 12 hours due to passport stamp issues, with no intention of seeking asylum expressed by any passenger.
