Renowned Indian Singer Zubeen Garg Dies in Singapore

Renowned Indian singer and musician Zubeen Garg has tragically passed away in Singapore today after a scuba-diving accident. Reports from local media, as cited by India Today, indicate that he encountered severe breathing issues underwater. Singapore authorities rescued him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where medical staff placed him in intensive care. Despite their efforts, he could not be revived. Zubeen Garg was 52 years old.

Zubeen Garg, a prominent figure from Assam, had traveled to Singapore to participate in the North East India Festival, where he was set to perform this weekend. His unexpected demise has shocked fans and colleagues throughout India, leading to an outpouring of tributes and condolences on social media platforms.

Apart from being a renowned playback singer, Zubeen Garg was also recognized as a composer, lyricist, music director, actor, and filmmaker. He was widely acknowledged as a cultural representative for North East India, shaping a career that spanned over three decades.

Born on November 18, 1972, Zubeen made his debut in the music industry with the Assamese album “Anamika” in 1992. Throughout his career, he produced numerous chart-topping songs in various languages. His breakthrough on a national scale came in 2006 with the track “Ya Ali” from Anurag Basu’s movie “Gangster,” propelling him to fame across the country.
