Renowned Bangladeshi musician Partha Barua, a stalwart of the band music industry for over 40 years, has unveiled the lead single from his inaugural solo album titled “Mukhosh,” a project that has been in the works for an extended period. The album was first announced by Barua six years ago, with the initial release of two songs, “Shohor O Meghdol” and “Brishtir Gaan,” generating significant anticipation. Subsequently, the project was put on hold as Barua dedicated his attention to various commitments with the iconic band, Souls, including commemorating the band’s 50-year legacy.
The title track, “Mukhosh,” has now been introduced on Barua’s official YouTube channel. Crafted by Rana, the song has been composed and arranged by Barua himself, with production overseen by Avik.
Barua explained that the song delves into the dichotomy of human nature, aiming to reveal both the inner and outer personas individuals possess. He emphasized the concept that everyone wears masks, suggesting that our true selves may not always align with our outward appearances. Barua expressed his intention to depart from conventional band music norms with this album, stating, “I intentionally avoided commercial considerations during the creative process, making this project somewhat unconventional compared to our usual band productions.”
Reflecting on his extensive music career, Barua admitted that releasing a solo album had never been a priority for him, as he preferred to be recognized within the context of Souls. However, after composing five distinct songs that diverged in tone and style, he felt compelled to present them as a separate entity. The other members of Souls showed their support for Barua’s decision, encouraging him to launch the songs collectively under the title “Mukhosh.” The album consists of five original tracks, all penned by Rana, while Barua took charge of the musical composition and arrangement.
