Pori Moni was honored at Blender’s Choice–The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2024 as the Best Actor (Female) in the Popular Choice category for her exceptional performance in Anam Biswas’s web series “Rongila Kitab”. This Hoichoi original, based on Kingkor Ahsan’s novel, also marked her debut in the realm of OTT platforms.
During the award ceremony, the actress shared insights into her role, expressing, “While I have received numerous accolades throughout my career and may garner more in the future, this particular recognition holds a special place in my heart. It is unique because it acknowledges my portrayal of a mother, a phase I was personally experiencing at that time. It allowed me to connect with the essence of my own motherhood journey.”
Acknowledging Anam Biswas as her mentor, Pori Moni invited the director on stage to convey her appreciation for entrusting her with a demanding character.
She further elaborated, stating, “This award holds deeper significance for me. It symbolizes that a mother is capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to. Following childbirth, I faced criticism for my weight gain, enduring hurtful comments about my appearance. However, only a few truly comprehend the challenges faced by mothers unless they have experienced it themselves.”
Reflecting on her experiences, she highlighted the continued commentary on her physique even after her physical transformation. “Upon arriving at the award venue today, I was once again subjected to remarks about my weight loss. I firmly believe that a woman’s worth should never be linked to her physical appearance, but rather to her actions, accomplishments, and character.”
Concluding her speech, Pori Moni expressed her gratitude, stating, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to The Daily Star and Blender’s Choice for bestowing this honor upon me. I am sincerely appreciative of this recognition.”
