“Political Parties Unite for Five-Point Demands Movement”

-

Eight political parties, which include Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB), are jointly pushing for the realization of their five-point demands through a coordinated movement. They are set to present a memorandum to the chief adviser on Thursday.

During a joint press conference held at the central office of Khelafat Majlis in Dhaka’s Paltan area, Maulana Mamunul Haque, the ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, revealed this plan on behalf of the parties. The demands encompass the issuance of an order to execute the July National Charter and the organization of a referendum ahead of the national election.

Prior to the press conference, the top leaders of these political entities convened at the same location. At this gathering, the leaders emphasized their unwavering commitment to maintaining the amended Representation of the People Order (RPO) without alterations.

Mamunul emphasized, “The amended RPO must remain unchanged. Any attempts at deletion, modification, or addition will not be accepted by us.”

Detailing the agenda for Thursday, Mamunul stated that each party would assemble in the Paltan area with processions before proceeding collectively to the chief adviser’s office.

Expressing concerns, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher mentioned, “One party has unexpectedly opposed the consensus we had previously agreed upon. We anticipate a prompt clarification from them.”

Mamunul added that in the event their demands are not addressed following Thursday’s activities, the parties intend to stage a protest rally on November 11.

Key figures present at the press conference included Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim (Charmonai Pir), Secretary General Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Presidium member Prof Ashraf Ali Akon, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party Secretary General Musa Bin Izhar, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Maulana Jalal Uddin, Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Kader, and Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) spokesperson Rashed Pradhan.
