Poland Closes Russian Consulate in Gdansk

-

Poland announced its decision to shut down the Russian consulate located in Gdansk, a major port city in the north, following allegations of Russia’s involvement in the recent train line sabotage incident. This closure adds to the previous shutdowns of other Russian consulates across Poland, leaving the Russian embassy in Warsaw as the sole remaining diplomatic mission in the country. Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed the withdrawal of consent for the functioning of the Russian consulate in Gdansk. Polish authorities have accused Russia of dispatching two Ukrainian individuals to carry out the sabotage on a section of the Lublin-Warsaw train line.
