Two siblings were brutally murdered by their paternal uncle following a land dispute in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi today. The victims, Fora Mia, aged 26, and Shakil Mia, aged 20, hailed from Charsubuddhi village in the upazila.
According to Md Minhazul Alam, the superintendent of police in Narsingdi, a long-standing conflict over ancestral property between their father, Abu Taher Mia, and uncle, Auwal Mia, led to the tragic incident. The dispute escalated as a boundary fence was erected on the disputed land.
At around 12:30 pm today, Fora and Shakil started filling the land with soil after removing the fence, triggering Auwal’s alleged fury. Auwal, accompanied by his associates, launched a violent attack on the brothers. The siblings sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead by doctors.
Abu Taher condemned the brutal act, accusing Auwal and his accomplices of the heinous crime. He demanded justice for his slain sons, expressing his grief over the loss and mentioning that his wife also suffered injuries in the assault.
Following the incident, Auwal has been evading the authorities, as confirmed by the police. Dr. Farida Gulshana Kabir, the resident medical officer at the hospital, disclosed that the bodies were undergoing autopsy at the hospital morgue. The victims had succumbed to multiple sharp weapon injuries upon arrival at the medical facility.
Md Kalimullah, the additional superintendent of police in Narsingdi, stated that three suspects have been apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to capture the main culprits. Increased police presence has been deployed in the area to maintain order, although the victims’ family has not yet lodged a formal complaint.
