“No” Vote Triumphs in Gopalganj Referendum

In the recent referendum held yesterday, the “No” vote emerged victorious in all three constituencies of Gopalganj, a region known for its strong support for the Awami League party. As per an official announcement by Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md Arif-uz-Zaman, the voting data indicates a clear preference for the “No” option throughout the district.

The voting results revealed that a total of 128,298 ballots were cast in favor of “No,” surpassing the 54,716 votes in support of “Yes” in Gopalganj-1. Similarly, in Gopalganj-2, a total of 107,290 voters opted for “No,” while 34,302 chose “Yes,” and in Gopalganj-3, 93,368 votes were cast for “No” in contrast to 33,498 for “Yes.”

Furthermore, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) successfully secured all three parliamentary seats in the Gopalganj district. Selimuzzaman Molla from BNP clinched victory in Gopalganj-1, encompassing Muksudpur and a portion of Kashiani. Dr. KM Babar emerged as the winner in Gopalganj-2, covering Gopalganj Sadar and part of Kashiani, while SM Zilany was declared the triumphant candidate in Gopalganj-3, which includes Tungipara and Kotalipara.
