Arifin Shuvoo and Mondera Chakroborty starred in the film “NeelChokro,” which premiered during Eid but has reappeared on YouTube with a different title, raising concerns about piracy and unauthorized distribution.
Recently, while searching for new Bengali films on YouTube, viewers discovered a video titled “Chakravyuh” that featured the thumbnail of “NeelChokro.” Uploaded on February 6, the 1-hour-51-minute film garnered over 40k views, leading to speculation about the actors’ involvement in a project with that name.
The YouTube version of the film has undergone various alterations, including a change in title and language. The dialogue has been adapted to a Kolkata-style dialect despite the story’s Bangladeshi context. Additionally, certain scenes have been edited, and the film’s colors have been adjusted to give it a fresh appearance for online audiences.
Initially, there were rumors that the film’s digital rights had been sold. However, director Mithu Khan refuted these claims, stating that he had not authorized any channel to distribute the film. After being made aware of the YouTube release, Khan expressed shock, emphasizing that the upload was unauthorized and had caused financial losses.
According to Khan, there was no official digital version of the film intended for circulation. However, a copy was shared for technical purposes during post-production in Kolkata, leading him to suspect that someone involved in that process leaked the film online. The production team is currently working to identify the responsible parties and have the film removed from the platform.
“NeelChokro” delves into a troubling storyline involving the online leak of private videos of 16 young women, resulting in tragic consequences. The narrative explores the investigation into a network deliberately spreading these videos.
The film also stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shirin Alam, Khaleda Akhtar Kolpona, Shahed Ali, Tiger Robi, Monir Ahmed Shakil, and Priyontee Urbee, among others. Additionally, popular singer Balam makes his big-screen acting debut in the film.
