The National Citizen Party (NCP) is poised to officially endorse the July Charter this evening. According to party insiders, a delegation from the NCP will pay a visit to Jamuna, the chief adviser’s official residence, to formalize their support for the charter. The delegation, led by Convener Nahid Islam, is expected to arrive at the residence at 6:00 pm. Alongside Nahid Islam, other members of the delegation include Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar, Monira Sharmin, Jabed Rasin, Akhter Hossen, who serves as the member secretary, Advocate Zahirul Islam Musa, and joint member secretary.
Last year on October 16, a total of 24 political parties joined forces to sign the July National Charter as a display of solidarity. Notably, five parties, including the NCP, which was established by student leaders at the forefront of last year’s July mass uprising, opted out of the signing ceremony. Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary announced on November 14 that the NCP would endorse the charter once the government provided clarification on the implementation order, referendum framework, and reform process.
