Nagad Limited has transferred a sum of Tk 13.82 crore to the Bangladesh Post Office under a revenue-sharing deal, corresponding to the postal authority’s portion of profits from January 2024 to June 2025. Afzal Ahmed, the chief financial officer at Nagad Limited, presented the cheque to Kazi Asadul Islam, the director general of the Department of Posts, at Dak Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday, as per an official statement.
As per the arrangement, Nagad covers all operational and technological expenses, while the Department of Posts receives 51% of the revenue without making any financial investments, with Nagad retaining the remaining 49%. Since its inception in 2019, Nagad has previously shared Tk 14.61 crore with the Post Office on various occasions.
Islam highlighted that the platform has enhanced competition in the industry and promoted digital transactions, fostering the development of the financial services sector. He noted that the Post Office presently receives an annual sum of around Tk 13-14 crore, a figure that is anticipated to increase significantly in the future.
Md Motasem Billah, the administrator of Nagad, emphasized how the platform has advanced financial inclusion and remains committed to supporting government initiatives and digital transactions nationwide. The gathering also included SM Haroonur Rashid, an additional director general at the Department of Posts; Md Nahim Uddin, an associate administrator; and Md Samsul Islam, the chief corporate affairs officer of the MFS provider, alongside senior officials from both entities.
