BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has unofficially won the parliamentary seat from Dhaka-8 after garnering 59,366 votes with the party’s sheaf of paddy symbol. His main opponent, Nasiuddin Patwari of the National Citizen Party (NCP), who ran with the Shapla Koli symbol, received 54,127 votes. The winning margin for Abbas was 5,239 votes, as per election officials. The Dhaka-8 constituency has a total of 275,474 registered voters, according to the district election office.
