Midland Bank PLC, in partnership with Communic-IBA of Jahangirnagar University, recently held a seminar focusing on “Financial Literacy” to enhance financial awareness among students and upcoming professionals. The objective was to provide them with the necessary knowledge to make well-informed financial decisions.
This initiative highlights Midland Bank’s ongoing dedication to empowering the youth through financial education and inclusion. The event saw the presence of Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, the vice-chancellor of the university, who served as the chief guest and delivered a speech at the university campus in Savar, Dhaka, as per a press release.
Prof Ireen Akther, the director of IBA at Jahangirnagar University, led the seminar, with Prof M Mahfuzur Rahman and Prof Sohel Ahmed, the pro-vice-chancellors (academic and administration, respectively), in attendance. Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, the managing director and CEO of Midland Bank PLC, presented the keynote address during the program.
The seminar emphasized the importance of boosting financial literacy among students and future professionals, creating awareness about financial inclusion, sustainable economic growth, and financial access, while equipping participants with crucial financial knowledge. Additionally, the bank established an information booth on the university campus from November 9 to 13, 2025, to educate students and faculty members about banking products and services.
The event was also attended by key figures such as Md Rashed Akter, head of the retail distribution division and chief bancassurance officer of the financial literacy wing; Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, head of the agent banking division and manager of the retail liability and financial literacy wing; Md Ashraful Islam, head of the retail sales department; and Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Tasnima Aziza, Shahriar Kabir, and SF Rehan, associate professors, along with other officials from the bank, university faculty, and students.
