‘Masterful’ fantasy spin-off fans say ‘doesn’t get enough credit’ will be available to stream for free

-

A popular spin-off from a renowned American fantasy series will be available for free streaming from next month on ITVX, which already boasts some of the UK’s biggest dramas and exciting international shows.

Among its hit titles are romantic dramas like Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek, Jane the Virgin, and comic book series such as Pennyworth and The Flash.

Fans who have already devoured all five seasons of the successful Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, also on ITVX, will soon be able to enjoy its sequel, Legacies.

First aired on the CW between 2018-2022, the series centres around Hope Mikaelson (played by Danielle Rose Russell), a unique Tribrid born from vampire, werewolf and witch bloodlines.

Introduced in the fifth and final season of The Originals, 17 year old Hope now attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where she navigates her adolescence amidst supernatural threats and mysteries, reports the Express.

Returning from The Vampire Diaries is the school’s human headmaster Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), and viewers can meet more characters including love interest Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) and witch twins Josie (Kaylee Bryant) and Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd).

While Legacies may not be the most popular addition to the Vampire Diaries universe, fans agree it’s worth watching when it lands on ITVX next month.

“This is an underrated show that doesn’t get enough credit for what it’s able to do,” one viewer expressed in their Google review.

“It’s a lighter more humorous take on the TVD verse yet it’s masterful in the way it injects drama that will have even the most stone-hearted people in tears.”

They even drew comparisons with another, more acclaimed, fantasy series, stating, “As Supernatural struggles and winds down, I am glad that there is another tv show that can and will fill the void with equal if not greater skill.”

“This is absolutely a must-watch,” another fan penned. “The show does so many great things and it does not get enough credit…”

“There is such a good mix of supernatural and drama in the show…it doesn’t get too focused on teenage drama and it also doesn’t just focus on supernatural.”

Another chimed in: “I loved Legacies, it made me very emotional. All of the endings made me want more and in the end it almost had me begging.

“Julie [Plec, creator] picked an amazing cast and in my opinion did a fantastic job with this show. I think I have watched this show about four times because of how spectacular it had turned out.”

And a final viewer even claimed: “I think Legacies may be my favourite out of all three shows.”

With such passionate fans, Legacies could be the perfect nostalgia trip for anyone who enjoyed the golden age of Vampire Diaries back in the day.

Legacies will be available to stream in February on ITVX.
