“Massive Rally Supports Ousted Nepal PM”

-

Tens of thousands gathered to support Nepal’s former prime minister, KP Sharma Oli, in a massive event held near Kathmandu, marking the largest assembly in the country since his removal following youth-led anti-corruption protests three months ago. The rally, attended by an estimated 70,000 people in Bhaktapur, initiated a three-day conference of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist).

The protests by the younger generation, dubbed “Gen Z,” led to widespread turmoil, resulting in the death of 77 individuals and over 2,000 injuries back in September. Oli and other political figures had to be rescued by the military and kept under protection for days as key government institutions, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Supreme Court, and parliament, were targeted and set ablaze.

Following these events, an interim administration led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki took charge and made the decision to dissolve the parliament.
