British-American composer Mark Ronson and filmmaker Greta Gerwig are teaming up once more for Netflix’s much-anticipated adaptation of “The Magician’s Nephew”, the sixth book in C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. Gerwig, known for her work on the 2023 hit “Barbie”, is both writing and directing this fantasy adventure, which acts as a prequel to “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”.
The star-studded cast for “Narnia” is shaping up nicely, with Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, and Carey Mulligan expected to be part of the project. Streep, who happens to be Ronson’s mother-in-law, will provide the voice for the iconic character Aslan. Ronson’s contributions to “Barbie” involved co-writing, co-producing songs, and crafting the score with Andrew Wyatt, leading to multiple award nominations at prestigious events like the Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars.
Filming for the adaptation is currently underway in London, with elaborate sets recreating 1950s post-war Britain near Bank Station and The Royal Exchange. Observant fans have already spotted extras and Gerwig herself at the shooting location. Meanwhile, Ronson has been making waves with the release of his memoir, “Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City”, chronicling his early career and ascent in the music industry.
With Gerwig’s creative vision and Ronson’s musical prowess, Netflix’s “Narnia” aims to reintroduce Lewis’ beloved universe to a worldwide audience, blending traditional fantasy elements with a contemporary cinematic approach.
