London Underground Strikes Bring City to Standstill

-

London’s underground transportation system faced a complete halt as workers initiated a series of strikes this week due to disputes over pay and working conditions. The strikes are causing major disruptions for both commuters and tourists in the UK capital.

During this period, there will be minimal to no services running on the London Underground from yesterday through Thursday. Moreover, the Docklands Light Railway, vital for connecting Canary Wharf and the City of London’s financial districts, will also be non-operational today and Thursday.

Residents of London shared their experiences of longer commutes to work yesterday, resorting to alternative modes of transport such as cycling or taking alternative routes.

Expressing her concerns, legal advisor Laura Sutton, 46, mentioned, “The thought of enduring this for the entire week is quite daunting… It has nearly doubled my travel time this morning,” as she navigated near London Bridge station.
