A new lawsuit has been submitted against backers of MP Barrister Rumeen Farhana, following a previous report of hindrance encountered by her at the Shaheed Minar in Sarail, Brahmanbaria. On Sunday evening, Tamim Mia, an employee at a company belonging to Anwar Hossain, also known as Anwar Master – a local BNP member and former secretary of the Sarail upazila BNP unit – lodged the complaint at Sarail Police Station. The case identifies 17 individuals and mentions around 100 to 150 other individuals as unknown offenders. Sarail Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Manzur Kader Bhuiyan, verified the submission. According to the First Information Report (FIR), a group of offenders gathered in front of Anwar Hossain’s Farzana Anwar Diagnostic Center and his house in the early hours of February 21, where they allegedly used abusive language. When Tamim tried to intervene, he purportedly faced physical assault and theft. The complaint also alleges that Rumeen Farhana’s supporters became agitated after chanting slogans at the Shaheed Minar on the same day. Earlier in the afternoon, a supporter of Rumeen Farhana had filed a separate case, naming Anwar Hossain as the main offender, along with four others, and including 150 unidentified persons. The incident took place shortly after midnight on February 21, when Rumeen Farhana visited the Sarail Central Shaheed Minar to honor International Mother Language Day. Allegations suggest she was obstructed, her supporters were attacked, and she had to leave without paying homage due to the escalating tension.
