Juventus has named Luciano Spalletti, the former Italy national team coach, as the new head coach until the end of the season, replacing Igor Tudor who was recently dismissed. The decision to bring in Spalletti came after Juventus experienced an eight-game winless streak across all competitions, leaving them in seventh place in the league standings after nine matches.
In an official statement, Juventus announced, “Luciano Spalletti has been appointed as the head coach of Juventus, with a contract running until June 30, 2026. We are excited to have a coach of such caliber join the Bianconeri family. Welcome to Juventus, and best of luck, coach!”
Tudor, a Croatian coach who took over from Thiago Motta in March, was Juventus’ first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in the 2006-07 season. Despite securing a fourth-place finish in Serie A last season and securing a spot in the Champions League, Tudor’s tenure came to an end due to the team’s poor run of form, which included five draws and three consecutive losses leading to his dismissal.
Following Tudor’s departure, Massimo Brambilla took on the role of interim coach, leading Juventus to a 3-1 victory against Udinese in their next match. Spalletti, aged 66, previously guided Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years in 2023 and has had extensive coaching experience with clubs like AS Roma, Inter Milan, and Zenit St Petersburg in Russia.
In 2023, Spalletti took charge of the Italian national team, leading them to Euro 2024, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Switzerland. However, a lackluster World Cup 2026 qualification campaign led to Spalletti’s dismissal in June, ending his tenure of less than two years as Italy’s head coach.
