Iran’s President Calls for Gaza Ceasefire

-

Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed his support for a ceasefire in Gaza following optimistic remarks from US President Donald Trump. Pezeshkian emphasized the urgent need to halt the tragic events, save lives, and alleviate the suffering of women and children in Gaza due to hunger during a press briefing at the UN General Assembly.

Expressing deep concern over Israel’s ongoing military activities in Gaza following the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas, Pezeshkian condemned the brutality and questioned the morality of such actions. As a medical professional, he highlighted the distressing impact of the conflict on civilians, stating that even he found certain images unbearable.

However, Pezeshkian refuted any Iranian involvement in the October 7 attacks, suggesting without substantiated proof that Israeli intelligence might have been aware of the impending assault.
