Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that Mohammad Saifuddin has been included in the seven-member squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 event happening from November 7-9, despite his ongoing injury. Saifuddin, a key all-rounder, was not part of the T20 squad against West Indies but had traveled to Chattogram with the team. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury during practice two days before the first T20I, followed by a bout of fever upon returning home.
Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, the chief selector, mentioned that Saifuddin will commence his rehabilitation in Dhaka starting today. However, BCB’s chief physician Debashis Chowdhury revealed that Saifuddin expressed intentions to travel to the capital on Saturday. Debashis emphasized the need to assess Saifuddin’s condition in person due to the ankle injury and fever.
Should Saifuddin not recover in time, one of the standbys, Sabbir Rahman or Habibul Rahman Sohan, will fill his spot, as mentioned by selector Hasibul Hossain Shanto. The Bangladesh team, aiming to build on last year’s semifinal finish, is set to leave for Hong Kong on November 5. The squad comprises Akbar Ali (c), Jishan Alam, Abu Hider Rony, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mosaddek Hossain, Rakibul Hasan, and Tofayel Ahmed Rayhan.
