An individual from India was apprehended by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for trying to unlawfully enter Bangladesh via the Aditmari upazila border in Lalmonirhat. The man was intercepted around 2:00 am by a patrol team from the Durgapur BOP camp under the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion.
The detained person has been identified as Biswajit Kumar Das, aged 25, hailing from Shibbari Chechakhata village in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India. Upon his detention, BGB discovered Bangladeshi Tk 820, Indian Rs 800, and a photocopy of an Aadhaar card in his possession.
Reports from BGB indicate that Biswajit crossed into Bangladesh through the Kauarchar area near sub-pillar 5 of border pillar No. 925, where the BGB patrol team observed and detained him. Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Imam, the Commanding Officer of the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the apprehended individual was transferred to the Aditmari Police Station following the initiation of legal proceedings against him for illegal border crossing.
Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Imam emphasized that BGB remains vigilant in preventing any unauthorized border crossings in the region.
