India is closely monitoring cases of Nipah virus, with two instances reported in West Bengal since December, according to the health ministry. The announcement on Tuesday came after Thailand and Malaysia bolstered airport screening procedures. The Indian ministry cautioned against circulating speculative and inaccurate Nipah virus case numbers, confirming only two infections. Officials have tracked down and monitored 196 individuals who had contact with the infected cases, all of whom remain symptom-free. Thailand has designated specific parking areas for planes arriving from regions affected by Nipah outbreaks.
