An independent candidate named Rumeen Farhana is currently leading in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, which includes Sarail, Ashuganj, and parts of Bijoynagar. With 45 out of 151 polling centers reporting as of 10:00pm, Rumeen, running as an independent with the symbol of a “duck,” has garnered 34,460 votes. Her closest competitor, Maulana Junayed Al Habib from the BNP alliance and vice-president of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh’s central committee, running with the “date palm tree” symbol, has received 23,226 votes.
A total of eight candidates are vying for the seat in this constituency. The voter turnout, as reported by the returning officer, currently stands at 44.8 percent.
