Rockstar Games has pushed back the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI to November 19, 2026, marking the second delay for the highly anticipated game. Initially planned for fall 2025, the release was rescheduled to May 2026 before this latest postponement.
In an official announcement, Rockstar Games cited the need for additional time to perfect the game, stating, “We apologize for the extended wait, but these extra months will ensure that we deliver the level of quality and refinement expected by our loyal fans.”
The decision to delay the game was revealed during Take-Two Interactive’s second-quarter earnings report. Grand Theft Auto VI will be located in the fictional state of Leonida, featuring a return to the contemporary setting of Vice City. Excitement around the game remains high, fueled by the immense success of Grand Theft Auto V, which has sold over 210 million copies since its launch in 2013. The anticipation for its sequel is driven by the expectation that it will establish new benchmarks in open-world gaming.
