-

The government has reorganized deputy commissioners in 15 districts in preparation for the upcoming general election. The public administration ministry has appointed new DCs in nine districts and transferred six others between districts, while withdrawing nine DCs and reassigning them to different ministries or agencies. This significant change in the district administration follows Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus’s announcement that the next general election is scheduled for February 2026. The reshuffling will occur in Noakhali, Habiganj, Gazipur, Dhaka, Gaibandha, Barguna, Bogura, Sirajganj, Magura, Pirojpur, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Khulna, Kushtia, and Bhola districts.

In a related move, the Election Commission has transferred 23 officials in anticipation of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election. According to reports from BSS, the EC issued two notifications signed by Mohammad Shahidur Rahman, assistant secretary of the EC’s Personnel Management Branch, announcing the transfers. Twenty-one election officials and two upazila election officers have been reassigned to various upazilas until further notice for the public interest. Among the transfers, Muhammad Harun Molla, the upazila election officer of Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, has been relocated to the Narayanganj District Election Office, while Mehedi Hasan, the upazila election officer of Jashore’s Bagharpara, has been transferred to the Daulatpur Thana Election Office in Khulna.
